The aim of this article is to present the situation of the young child in a world where the digital revolution is taking place. The author considers whether the beginning of life, due to the embedded periods of special vulnerability for language development, needs to be protected from high technologies in order to be able to save a favourable environment for development. She refers to a balanced approach, which does not only evaluate negatively the impacts of the digital revolution on children and their parents, but tries to identify both opportunities and threats of the present. Drawing on scientific research and statistics, it highlights how the conditions in which children are formed have changed and what has a significant impact on them.
