Abstract

Since the 1990s, there has been a steady increase in interest in the phenomenon of citizen science, which constitutes a bridge between the world of science and society, enabling cooperation and joint actions to understand better and solve the problems of the contemporary world. This text shows how research on citizen science is developing in social sciences. Using the resources of the Scopus database, the author conducts a bibliometric analysis of scientific literature for the years 1974–2024, indicating key scientific journals publishing articles in this field, leading countries and research centers undertaking research in this area, the most productive researchers and cooperation networks emerging between them, and the specific issues they address.
